I have
worked as a photographer within a set of railway arches here in
Hammersmith for over 10 years. My fellow arch dwellers and I are an
isolated community within the throbbing metropolis that is
Hammersmith. We are yards from King street, but if you have never
chanced to look in our direction, you would never know we
were here.
Occupied by a diverse range of occupations, metal workers, wood
workers, media companies, upholsterers and of course a
photographer. Everyone knows everyone else and is always on hand if
needed, even if it's just for a cup of sugar.
As a photographer I wanted to document a moment in time at these
arches which are over 100 years old, and capture the community that
has evolved out of a space that was never meant to be
occupied.
